best books for your cleaning business

If there is one thing we have learned from the past few years, it’s how indispensable our frontline workers are. Including, and especially important, are our cleaners. From building maintenance staff to janitors and housekeepers, these people do a job that keeps the rest of us safe and healthy.

Without cleaners, we wouldn’t have safe and pleasant environments to work, play, and live in. But these hardworking individuals that make the rest of our lives possible certainly don’t get the recognition they deserve.

How to Thank Your Cleaner

You want to show your cleaner your appreciation, but not sure how? It doesn’t have to be complicated, and you don’t have to organize some grand gesture.

A great way to show your cleaner that you are grateful for their work is by writing a thank you note. Just taking the time to really thank your cleaner and let them know how much you appreciate their efforts will go a long way. Writing a genuine and sincere thank you note that expresses your appreciation can be intimidating, but don’t worry. We’ve got all the tips you need to nail your thank you letter below.

Personalize a Note

Whatever you do, don’t write a generic note for your cleaner! Take the time to think about your cleaner. Even if you don’t know your cleaner on a personal level, you can still come up with the things they do that you appreciate. Maybe they put all your things back on your desk where they go after they’ve cleaned it, or remember to dust every vent, every time. Everyone likes to be noticed for doing good work.

The important thing is the card needs to be personalized. Don’t write something vague, or the appreciation won’t show.

Keep it Simple

Situations like this can be easy to overthink. It’s easier said than done but keep it simple. While personalizing is important, the note doesn’t need to be long or drawn out. Be sincere in your writing and it will shine through to the recipient.

If you are struggling, don’t stress about writing them a novel! A few sentences are all you need to convey your message.

What Are You Thanking Them For

Get specific when you write your thank you’s. Cleaning tends to be an industry where things are only noticed when it goes wrong. There can be a lot of negative feedback given since cleanliness is the expectation. Take the time to think about what your cleaner is doing right, and let them know.

Throw in a Reward

This is an easy one. After expressing appreciation in your card, think about throwing in a reward or gift card. An Amazon gift card, or one to the local coffee shop can go a long way. You do not even need to spend a lot. Just ten dollars levels up your thank you note and will show your cleaner that you care.

Even with all these helpful tips, writing a thank you note to someone you do not know very well can be daunting. If you are getting writer’s block, use our Thank You to Cleaner’s template below. Writing a thoughtful note is a great way to show your cleaner that they are noticed and appreciated. Cleaning is not an easy job, but it’s one that needs to be done, and we are all grateful when it is done well.

It’s the Perfect Time to Write Your Letter

The best time to thank your cleaners is now, and the second-best time is during National Cleaning Week. Gratitude is powerful. People are happier when they are appreciated and it’s good for you too. Studies show that gratitude is linked to individuals being more positive and more resilient. Everyone benefits when you take the time to say thank you.

March 27-April 1 is National Cleaning Week, a week about showing appreciation for frontline cleaners. For cleaners, it offers educational opportunities, a space to advocate for the industry, and a specific time to be recognized for the value that they provide. Cleaning has an important, positive impact on public health, the environment, and the economy, and it is vital that we thank the people doing it.
